Robert Plant, former lead singer of Led Zeppelin, has a connection to the California high desert. He recently dropped in at Pappy & Harriet's, a honky tonk in Pioneertown near Yucca Valley to hang out, calling the place "very refreshing." The next night Robert came back to jam with the local musicians.
Here's a lyric from "29 Palms," a song about infatuation from his 1993 album, Fate of Nations:
Oh-oh, 29 Palms--I feel the heat of your desert heart
and...
The heat and the dust increase my desolation
The desert inspires so many, provokes so many emotions. Heat and heart, dust and desolation. The desert horizon and big sky reflect our many moods.
