On this clear day in December we could see the Coachella Valley, Indio, and the Salton Sea, all the way to Signal Mountain in Mexico, 100 miles away.

There are plenty of riding trails in JTNP, but rarely do you see horses. We met this Orange County family who were camping in a horse-zoned site. I learned that Dad is part of the Anaheim police department mounted division. Happy Trails!

Maui ice sculpting competition

The event took place at the indoor Lahaina Cannery Mall, the only ice-friendly spot in Hawaii! The entrants had one and a half hours to create their masterpieces.
